Alwyn School, Maidenhead

The Location

Alwyn School is the largest infant school in Maidenhead and caters for children from age 4 to 7. The main school hall is used for a wide range of activities. The large glass roof covering the hall area provides lots of light but can make the hall too hot and bright in full sunshine.

The Problem

The glare from the sun meant that the projector screen could not be viewed on sunny days and the hall was too hot for comfort. The school wanted to retain the natural light whilst eliminating glare from the projector screens and reducing the heat in the hall.

The Solution

PowerPleat full remote-controlled blinds with specialised heat and glare reflecting fabric. The roof and end panel over the shaped end windows are split into 4 zones so they can either be closed in sections or altogether. This offers a high degree of flexibility to suit all light conditions and uses of the hall. The challenge of the unusual roof shape was easily overcome using the powerpleat system.

The Service

Customer Testimonial
"The blinds have had a significant impact on our assemblies and our school activities. They have particularly enhanced our use of the projector and we are anticipating a far cooler hall in the summer months" said Headteacher, Mrs Cale.
