Versatile airport meeting room benefits from PowerPleat™
The meeting room being too hot or too cold was spoiling the enjoyment of seeing the passing planes for guests at the SAS Hotel in Manchester Airport, until Thomas Sanderson installed advanced PowerPleat™ blinds.
The Problem
The Radisson SAS Hotel at Manchester Airport has an observatory, which uses a lot of glass to make watching planes even more dramatic. Clients often want to start a meeting with the full view on show, but they then need to dim the lighting in order for computer presentations to be visible - or just to stop the room getting too hot, or even too cold in the winter months. The room originally had pull-down blinds, but these often got caught up, much to people's annoyance.
The Services
Paul Ryder, the hotel's Chief Engineer, saw a television ad for Thomas Sanderson and called them to arrange a consultation. The designer talked over his needs with him and came up with a bespoke solution that would solve his particular problems. "They were quick," says Paul. "An excellent service."
The Solution
In this particular case, Thomas Sanderson installed remote-controlled PowerPleat™ pleated blinds. This was the ideal solution due to the sheer amount of windows in the observatory. They fitted discreetly too, so when retracted the view over the airport remained as dramatic as ever.
Being remote controlled, the PowerPleat™ blinds can be operated from practically anywhere in the observatory and can be programmed into ‘zones’ that are set during the installation. As not all the blinds were required to be used at the same time, the advanced system gives the freedom to decide in which areas of the observatory they want to operate the blinds at any one time.
The Result
Paul Ryder was delighted with the finished product "You just push a button and it's done," says Paul. "You wouldn't even know we had blinds." He also commented on how impressed he was by how professional the blinds look, as well as their quietness - making them ideal for meetings.
